A few things you might be wondering. For everything else, there’s your viewing.
Is the venue really ours for the whole weekend?
Yes. Butley Priory is exclusive use, so the entire estate is yours from Friday to Sunday with no other events or guests on site. We host a limited number of weddings each year, and never more than one at a time.
How many people can we invite, and how many can stay?
Ceremonies can be held for up to 95 guests, indoors or out. Dining is for up to 80 inside the Priory, or up to 200 with a marquee on the lawn. Overnight, up to 47 guests can stay across the Priory, the Farmhouse and two cottages, and we’re happy to recommend places nearby for anyone else.
What does a wedding weekend cost?
Our example weekend packages for 2027 start from £27,500 for a Luxury Weekender and £44,000 for an Estate Takeover with a marquee, and a midweek Priory Wedding for up to 40 guests starts from £14,500. Can we have a smaller or midweek wedding?
Absolutely. Our Priory Wedding package is designed for up to 40 guests midweek, and a smaller guest list can make a wedding weekend feel wonderfully personal. Tell us what you’re imagining and we’ll help you explore the options.
Can we host welcome drinks on Friday or a brunch on Sunday?
Yes. Many couples gather everyone for relaxed drinks in the Farmhouse garden on Friday evening and a slow brunch on Sunday morning. The estate is yours for the whole weekend, so there’s room for both.
Do you offer exclusive use for just one day?
Weekend hire is our standard offering because it lets you truly relax into the celebration. If you’re looking for a shorter stay, please ask about availability when you visit.
What will we see on our viewing?
A member of the Butley events team will show you the Priory, the Great Hall, the gardens and the guest accommodation, with time to discuss your plans and questions. Allow around 90 minutes. It’s a private viewing with no obligation.
Can children and dogs be part of our wedding?
Yes, both are very welcome. Family-friendly accommodation and spacious, secure grounds make it easy to include little ones and four-legged guests. Let us know who’s coming so we can plan the arrangements with you.
Where are you, and is the venue accessible?
We’re near Woodbridge in Suffolk, around two hours from London and 90 minutes from Cambridge. The Priory’s ground floor, including toilet facilities, is accessible, and Paddy’s Cottage has an accessible ground-floor bedroom and bathroom. As this is a historic estate, please tell us about any specific needs before your visit so we can help you plan.
